No Man’s Land is a gripping psychological drama that unearths the hidden wounds of a shattered psyche. Set in the Rhondda Valley, we follow Lewis as he journeys through two worlds to discover the mechanism for his closure. A world of reality and No Man’s Land, a trauma-induced dystopia that only exists in Lewis’ mind.
Silence Speaks was approached in July 2025 with an incredible opportunity to work alongside a theatre and production company to support the production and performances of No Man’s Land at Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, from October 15th - 18th, and at the Parc & Dare, Treorchy, between October 23rd - 25th 2025.
Once performances were ready to get underway, Silence Speaks worked with front of house and the theatres marketing team to prepare the theatres lobby area ready for the audiences arrival. The teams at both the Sherman Theatre and Parc and Dare were accommodating, supportive, and really embraced the challenge of providing a space that was both welcoming, and wellbeing friendly.
The original offer was to support No Man’s Land as the Production Team and Audience Wellbeing Officer. However, as the play’s production got underway (due to unforeseen circumstances) we were offered the opportunity to work alongside directors, producers, script writers, sound engineers, and actors, to support the creative process of developing the script ready for a live audience.
With ten performances taking place over seven days, between two theatres based in the centre of Cardiff and the heart of the Rhondda Valley, that welcomed hundreds of guests through the theatre doors and to their seats, No Man’s Land was a marvellous success that attracted an audience and theatre reviewers from across Wales.
This opportunity is one that we would have never thought possible when Silence Speaks first launched, and was solely focused on providing 1:1 counselling services. No Man’s Land provided an insight into the potential of integrating wellbeing practices into theatre productions, and really expanded our expectations of how far mental health support can grow through community outreach.
