Individual Counselling

Individual Counselling & Therapy

A safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences

Individual Counselling offers a confidential, compassionate environment where you can talk openly about what’s going on in your life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low, or simply unsure of what you need, this space is designed to help you make sense of your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

Many people come to counselling because they want clarity, understanding, or support through a difficult time. Others come because they’re ready to explore deeper patterns, past experiences, or long‑standing emotional challenges. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

  • Sessions last around 60 minutes

  • Available in person, online, or by phone

  • You choose what you want to talk about — there is no right or wrong place to begin

  • We work collaboratively, exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with curiosity rather than judgement

  • The pace is always guided by your comfort and readiness

Individual Counselling can support you with:

  • anxiety, stress, or overwhelm

  • low mood or depression

  • trauma or difficult past experiences

  • relationship challenges

  • self‑esteem and identity

  • grief, loss, or life transitions

  • feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected

  • personal growth and self‑understanding

Counselling or Therapy — What’s the Difference?

People often wonder whether they need counselling or therapy, and the truth is: you don’t need to know before you start.

Here’s a simple way to understand the difference:

Counselling

  • Often focuses on current challenges, stress, or emotional difficulties

  • Helps you understand what’s happening in the present

  • Supports you to develop coping strategies and clarity

Therapy

  • Often explores deeper patterns, past experiences, or long‑standing emotional wounds

  • Helps you understand how past and present connect

  • Supports long‑term change and self‑understanding

Both approaches can be helpful — and many people move naturally between them as sessions progress. During our work together, we’ll explore what feels most supportive for you, and the approach will adapt as your needs evolve.

Who is individual counselling for?

Individual Counselling is suitable for adults who:

  • want support with emotional or psychological challenges

  • feel overwhelmed or unsure where to begin

  • want to understand themselves more deeply

  • are navigating change, loss, or uncertainty

  • feel stuck in patterns they want to shift

  • want a confidential space to talk without judgement

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit — many people come simply because they want to feel more grounded, connected, or understood.

What you can expect

Each session is shaped around your needs, but we may explore:

  • your emotional responses and what they’re trying to communicate

  • the impact of stress, relationships, or past experiences

  • patterns that repeat in your life

  • how you relate to yourself and others

  • ways to build resilience, self‑compassion, and clarity

You’ll be supported to express yourself freely, reflect deeply, and develop tools that help you navigate life with more confidence and understanding.

Practicalities

  • Session length: ~60 minutes

  • Format: In person (Pontypridd), online, or by phone

  • Confidentiality: Your privacy and emotional safety are always prioritised

  • Pace: You set the pace — we move gently, steadily, and collaboratively

If you’re unsure where to begin, we can explore your needs together and find the approach that feels right for you.

I focus on:

  • creating a safe, steady space where you can talk openly

  • helping you understand your emotional world with clarity and compassion

  • exploring patterns that may be keeping you stuck

  • supporting you to develop healthier boundaries and coping strategies

  • working at a pace that feels manageable and respectful

This is not about “fixing” you — it’s about understanding you, supporting you, and helping you move toward a life that feels more aligned and grounded.

Silence Speaks Stress

Jason’s Journey with Silence Speaks: A Case Study

Jason, 36, reached out to Silence Speaks Counselling after experiencing low mood and self-esteem following personal challenges. Through his initial counselling sessions, he explored his feelings, identified patterns affecting his motivation, and uncovered deeper emotions tied to past trauma.

As the therapeutic relationship grew, Jason felt safe enough to open up about these past experiences. With his counsellor’s support, he engaged in structured therapy sessions to process and integrate these struggles into his present life. Over time, Jason gained clarity, developed coping strategies, and built his own Mental Health and Well-being Toolkit—allowing him to move forward with renewed confidence.

With this foundation in place, Jason chose to shift his focus toward personal and professional growth. While coaching played a role in setting his future goals, his work in counselling and therapy was the cornerstone of his transformation. Once he felt secure in his progress, equipped with strategies to support himself, he completed his journey with Silence Speaks—feeling empowered to navigate life with self-awareness and resilience.
